They are the unseen puppet masters of the world’s most valuable sports team. But although they rarely show their faces, the Glazer family has a firm grip on Manchester United, squeezing the Premier League club for all its worth.
Puppet masters is the correct term to describe the Glazers. The strings lead all the way from the north of England across the Atlantic, with Malcolm, Avram, Bryan and Joel controlling the team of hand-picked suits employed as Glazer surrogates at Old Trafford. They don’t even reserve a seat for them at home games anymore, because the sovereign family hardly ever shows up.
